Essential Tools for Coloring Squishmallows

To embark on your Squishmallow coloring journey, you'll need the right tools. Here are some must-haves:

High-Quality Markers or Colored Pencils

Invest in alcohol markers or high-quality colored pencils for vibrant, long-lasting results. Brands like Copic, Prismacolor, and Faber-Castell offer excellent color options and smooth application.

For markers, ensure they're alcohol-based to prevent bleeding. For colored pencils, opt for professional-grade sets with a wide color range. Pre-sharpened pencils can save time, but keep in mind that they're typically more expensive.

Specialized Squishmallow Coloring Books or Printables

While you can find Squishmallow coloring pages online, consider investing in a coloring book dedicated to these plush toys. These books often feature high-quality, carefully designed prints that minimize ledge cutting and offer a wide variety of characters.

Alternatively, you can purchase Squishmallow printables from online stores like Etsy. These offer endless variety, and you can usually buy single pages or bundles.

Customizable Coloring Apps

If you prefer a digital medium, consider using a customizable coloring app. Apps like iColorbook, ColorMe, or Coloring Book for Me allows you to upload Squishmallow prints and color them to your heart's content. Plus, you can save and share your designs with ease.

Techniques for Coloring Squishmallows

Once you have your tools, it's time to unleash your creativity. Here are some techniques to help you color Squishmallows perfectly:

Color Selection

Start by choosing a color scheme. You can stay true to the original Squishmallow colors or create your own unique palette. For a more realistic look, consider using flesh tones for the character's belly and lighter shades for highlights. Experiment with textures by layering colors and using blending techniques.

The art of Blending

Blending can bring your Squishmallows to life, adding depth and dimension. For markers, use light, circular motions to blend colors. With colored pencils, layer colors and use a colorless blender pencil to smooth out blends.

Remember, practice makes perfect. Don't be afraid to make mistakes or try new techniques. Each attempt is an opportunity to learn and grow as an artist.
