Disney World Thanksgiving: Celebrations & Offers

Thanksgiving, a beloved American holiday, is often synonymous with family gatherings, feasts, and parades. Of course, many ask, "Does Disney World do anything for Thanksgiving?" The answer is a resounding yes! The Magic Kingdom rolls out the Welcome mat for Thanksgiving, transforming into a vibrant celebration blending the traditional with the magical.

Walt Disney World doesn't just close its gates for a turkey dinner; it transforms its parks into enchanting, festive environments. Thanks to this, a magical Thanksgiving can be a part of your family's traditions, offering unique experiences you won't find anywhere else.

Thanksgiving Dining at Disney World

One of the most anticipated aspects of Thanksgiving is the lavish feast. Disney World, renowned for its culinary arts, doesn't disappoint. They serve up turkey-day classics with their signature flair at several Disney Springs and resort restaurants.

For instance, enjoy an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving dinner at The Paddlefish, or indulge in a Thanksgiving-inspired menu at The Table Service Restaurant at the Disney World Swan and Dolphin. The Floridian Café at Endless Summer Resort also offers a buffet-style Thanksgiving meal.

Thanksgiving Feasts at Disney's Theme Parks

Disney's theme parks themselves aren't open for the full Thanksgiving day, but on the days leading up, you can enjoy Thanksgiving-inspired feasts. For example, Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom serves up a Pilgrim's Feast, a hearty 18th-century-style Thanksgiving meal, and Epcot's Le Cellier Steakhouse offers a Canadian-inspired Thanksgiving dinner.

Don't miss out on the festive Turkey Legs available throughout Disney World before and after Thanksgiving. These massive, slow-roasted turkey drumsticks are a Disney tradition that draws long lines year-round, not just for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Characters and Decorations

Disney World loves a good celebration, and Thanksgiving is no exception. Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and their friends often sport Thanksgiving outfits, spreading joy and good cheer. You might find them wearing festive turkey hats or holding pumpkins during character meet-and-greets.

Throughout the resorts and parks, you'll find Thanksgiving decorations - think autumnal garlands, pilgrim hats, and turkey-themed topiaries. It's a delightful sight that adds to the festive spirit, making you feel right at home amidst the magic.

Thanksgiving Parades and Shows

While Disney World doesn't host a traditional Thanksgiving parade on Thanksgiving day, the days leading up to and following offer magical holiday parades. If you visit during this time, you won't want to miss these spectacular shows.

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, for instance, takes place only during the holiday season and features beloved Disney characters in festive attire.

The Candlelight Processional

Epcot's Candlelight Processional is a unique Thanksgiving tradition. Held at the America Gardens Theatre, this event features a mass choir, live orchestra, and a celebrity narrator who retell the traditional Christmas story. The processional takes place multiple times each evening, starting in early November and running through the holiday season.

The Candlelight Processional offers a powerful, moving experience that's both a wonderful way to kick off the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Disney Springs' Flavors of the Season

For a more laid-back Thanksgiving celebration, head to Disney Springs. Here, you can enjoy a variety of flavors from around the world, all with a holiday twist. From holiday-inspired cocktails to seasonal eats, Disney Springs offers a delightful way to celebrate the holiday.
