Licensing and Attribution

When downloading and using free animal clip art, it's crucial to understand the licensing terms and conditions associated with each image. Most websites offering free clip art use creative commons licenses, which allow users to download and use the images for free but require proper attribution. Failing to credit the original creator can result in copyright infringement, so always review the licensing information before using any clip art.

Some popular creative commons licenses you may encounter when using free animal clip art include:

• Attribution (CC BY): You are free to share, copy, and redistribute the clip art in any medium or format, even for commercial purposes, as long as you give appropriate credit and provide a link to the license. No additional permission is required.
• Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA): You can share, copy, and redistribute the clip art, even for commercial purposes, but you must distribute any derivatives under the same license. In other words, if you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

To respect the original creators' work and avoid copyright infringement, always attribute the clip art images you use by including the creator's name and a link to the original license, if required. This simple act not only keeps you within the bounds of fair use but also helps spread awareness and appreciation for the creator's work.
