With our coloring page, your child can bring their own version of this enchanting creature to life, one color at a time.

The Kelpie: A Brief History

The Kelpie is deeply rooted in Scottish and Irish folklore, with tales dating back to the 18th century. Often depicted as a black horse, this magical steed is believed to have the power to manipulate water, sometimes causing floods or rescuing those in need. The term 'Kelpie' itself is derived from the Gaelic word 'ceallach,' meaning 'combs' or 'lakes,' hinting at the water spirit's connection to bodies of water.

legends also claim that the Kelpie could be controlled and ridden by humans, oftentimes by young children. However, taming one required great courage and pure intentions, as the Kelpie would test the rider's worthiness by taking them on a wild, watery chase. With our 'Frozen Water Horse Coloring Page,' your child can embark on their own magical adventure, learning about integrity and bravery as they color in the details of this mythical horse.
