Understanding Girl Scout Badges

Before diving into the printable badge lists, let's first understand the types of badges Girl Scouts can earn. Each badge signifies the completion of specific activities, skills, or knowledge.

There are five types of badges: Troop Activity Badges, Journey Awards, Proficiency Badges, Special Awards, and Highest Award badges. Each type has its own requirements and criteria, ensuring girls learn a wide range of skills and develop their unique interests.

Troop Activity Badges

Troop Activity Badges are specific to each Grade Level and help girls explore various aspects of life. These badges are designed to be completed as a troop and require planning and teamwork. Examples include Badge Family, Healthy Habits, and Inventor badges.

Girls usually work on these badges throughout the troop meeting cycle, with guidance and support from their leaders. Once completed, Girl Scout leaders can order the badges through the Girl Scout online shop.

Journey Awards

Journey Awards are multi-step, interactive adventures that promote critical thinking, self-reflection, and action-based learning. Girls gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their values, and their role in the world. Each Journey Award focuses on a specific theme, like It's Your Planet – Love It! or It's Your Story – Tell It!

Journey Awards are completed at home, with family support, and require girls to reflect on their experiences and create projects to showcase their learning. Once they've completed the necessary requirements, girls receive an award chefette for their uniform.
