Jesus' Ascension marks the culmination of His earthly ministry and the commencement of His divine reign. It's a timely reminder of our Lord's promise to be with us always, till the end of the age. To help commemorate this pivotal moment, we've prepared printable crafts that are biblical, engaging, and perfect for all ages.

Understanding Jesus' Ascension

Jesus' Ascension, as recounted in Acts 1:9, is a multifaceted event: an exceptional demonstration of Christ's deity, a symbol of His triumph over sin and death, and a promise of His second coming. Let's explore these aspects in our crafts.

Understanding the historicity of Jesus' Ascension is crucial. It wasn't just a mysterious disappearance, but a bodily ascent into heaven, witnessed by the apostles and disciples.

Ascension as a Demonstration of Christ's Deity

One of our printables focuses on this aspect. We've designed a simple craft where children can create a 'Jesus Went Up' mobile, symbolizing Jesus ascending to heaven. As they work on this activity, discuss why Jesus' physical ascension proves His divinity.

Explore how this event is unique in the Bible, unlike any other figure's 'departure' or 'death.' Jesus didn't just fade away or pass on; He physically rose and ascended, interviewing questions about His identity and authority (Acts 1:2-3, Luke 24:38-39).

Ascension as a Triumph over Sin and Death

Another craft, an 'Empty Tomb' diorama, highlights this triumph. In this activity, kids can explore the empty tomb's symbolism, marking Jesus' victory over sin and death. Discuss how His Ascension is the final seal on this victory, with Christ now reigning in the highest heavens (Ephesians 4:8-10, Colossians 3:1-4).

This craft also allowsfor an interactive exploration of Easter's significance, including the resurrection and the promised Holy Spirit.

The Promise of His Second Coming

Jesus' Ascension was not the end of our relationship with Him, but the beginning of a closer one. After His ascension, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to indwell believers (John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8), enabling us to experience His presence in a profound way.

The Ascension also points us towards the future. Christ promised to return, to gather His church, and to reign with us (Revelation 22:7-21). Our final craft, a 'Cloud of Witnesses' banner, celebrates this Promise.

Creating a 'Cloud of Witnesses' Banner

This craft celebrates those who have gone before us in faith, waiting for the return of their Lord (Hebrews 12:1-2). Kids can create a cloud-shape banner with names of biblical figures or loved ones who have passed away with the sure hope of Christ's return.

Promote a culture of remembrance and expectation in your family or community, as you anticipate the return of the King.

Creating these Ascension craft printables is more than just a fun activity. It's an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Jesus' life, death, and triumph, and to share this joy with others.
