Jonah Disobeys

The first scene in our collection shows Jonah boarding a ship headed in the opposite direction of Nineveh, the city God had asked him to visit. This colorful scene depicts Jonah's act of disobedience, providing an opportunity to discuss the concept of obeying God's commands and the potential consequences of disobedience.

Children can use a variety of colors to illustrate the bustling port, the Playful waves, and the determined expression on Jonah's face as he boards the ship. As they color, they can also contemplate Jonah's motive and the importance of making wise decisions.

Jonah and the Storm

Our second scene captures the terrifying moment when a fierce storm hits the ship Jonah is traveling on. The sailors, who initially ignore Jonah's warning, eventually turn to him for help, highlighting the importance of listening to and learning from one another.

Children can use dark blues and greys to depict the stormy sea and the panicked sailors. They can also explore the colors of the ship, highlighting the solace it offers amidst the chaos. This scene encourages children to think about how they might react in such a situation and the importance of working together.

Jonah and the Whale

Next, our printable coloring pages take children to the memorable moment when Jonah is swallowed by a large fish, or whale, as per some interpretations. This moment shows God's protective care and power over nature, even when we stray from His path.

Children can use their imagination to color the massive whale, the anxious-looking ship on the distant horizon, and Jonah, wisely saying his prayers inside the fish's stomach. As they color, they can reflect on God's never-ending mercy and how He always provides chances for redemption.
