Iconic Mario Characters

Who would've thought that a humble Italian-American plumber could become the face of one of the world's most popular video game franchises? The story of Mario began in 1981, when Nintendo created the now-legendary character for the arcade game Donkey Kong. Since then, Mario has starred in countless titles, becoming a cultural icon and spanning numerous genres, from platformers to sports and RPGs.

Our Mario coloring pages feature the plumber in various forms, from his classic Super Mario Bros. incarnation to his alternate forms like Mario Kart racer, Mario Tennis champion, and even Paper Mario! Each printable page offers unique challenges and opportunities to experiment with colors, bringing your personal touch to Nintendo's timeless gaming experiences.

Mario's Friends and Allies

Mario couldn't save the Mushroom Kingdom alone, and he's always been surrounded by a colorful cast of friends and allies. One of the most recognizable is Yoshi, the green dinosaur who first appeared in Super Mario World. Our Yoshi coloring pages allow you to fill in the details, from his smiling face to his unique tongue-flicking attack. You can also color other fan favorites like Toad, Princess Peach, and Baby Mario, each offering a different art style and color palette.

Don't forget the likes of Wario and Waluigi, who add a touch of antagonism to our roster of Mario characters. While not necessarily as innocent as their Mario counterparts, these anti-heroes offer a chance to experiment with darker colors and bolder designs in your printable pages.

Enemies and Antagonists

A hero is only as good as his villains, and the Mario series has no shortage of iconic foes. Of course, no list of Mario villains would be complete without Bowser, the towering koopa king with a penchant for kidnapping Princess Peach. With our Bowser coloring pages, you can give the intimidating lizard king whatever menacing color scheme you desire.

But Bowser isn't the only villain the Mario universe has to offer. Our collection includes printable pages featuring foes like King K. Rool of the Donkey Kong series, the terrifying Mother Brain from Metroid, and the amorphous Cappy from Super Mario Odyssey. With a wide range of styles and designs, these villainous coloring pages will give you countless hours of creative play.

The Evolution of Mario's Art Style

The Mario series has been around for over four decades, and its art style has evolved significantly during that time. Our Mario coloring pages span this evolution, from the 8-bit pixel art of the original Super Mario Bros. games to the semi-realistic polygons of later titles like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. By exploring these various art styles in our printable pages, you can trace the history of Nintendo's most iconic character through the decades.

One notable shift in Mario's visual style happened with the release of Super Mario 3D World in 2013. This title introduced a new, more realistic approach to Mario's appearance, which carried over to recent entries like Super Mario Odyssey and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Our Mario coloring pages cater to these more modern styles, giving you the opportunity to experiment with shading, highlights, and more advanced color theory.

Unique Mario Spin-offs and Cameos

While Mario is usually seen in platformers, his presence extends far beyond the genre. Throughout the years, he's appeared in various spin-offs and cameos, from his brief appearance in the 1981 game Ball to his role in the augmented reality game Pokémon GO. Our Mario coloring pages represent this diverse spectrum of games, featuring characters and designs inspired by titles like Mario Party, Mario Sports, and even Ccadea, a hidden appearance in the iOS game Fruit Ninja. Each of these unique spin-offs offers a different artistic challenge for you to master.

Beyond his own series, Mario has also made countless cameos in other Nintendo titles. Our collection of Mario coloring pages includes fan art and official designs featuring the plumber alongside characters like Ridley from the Metroid series, Kirby and his friends, and even Mewtwo from the Pokémon universe. These crossover designs provide a unique opportunity for you to mix and match different art styles and color schemes.

With such a vast and diverse range of characters and designs, our Mario coloring pages offer something for every fan, from casual players to dedicated gamers. So sharpen your colored pencils, grab your markers, and let your creativity run wild. After all, the Mushroom Kingdom is a big place, and there's always room for a bit more color and imagination!
