By Laura RobinsonApril 16, 2026

The year 2024 is around the corner, and with it comes the curiosity about the unlucky color for the Monkey in the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese believe certain colors bring luck and prosperity, while others should be avoided to prevent bad fortune. So, what's the unlucky color for the Monkey in 2024?

Let's delve into the fascinating world of Chinese astrology to find out.

The Logic Behind Unlucky Colors

The selection of unlucky colors is guided by Chinese astrology, which signifies the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth) and their correlations with the 12 zodiac animals. The Monkey, for instance, is associated with the Metal element in 2024. Certain colors are deemed unlucky for specific zodiac signs based on their element and the year's luck.

Before we uncover the unlucky color for the Monkey in 2024, let's first understand the concept of the conflicting five elements.

Conflicting Five Elements

Each element has a conflicting pair that symbolizes the clash of energies. For instance, Metal is associated with the color white, but it's in conflict with the element Wood. Thus, white is considered an unlucky color for zodiac signs linked with Wood. Similarly, understanding these conflicts helps us identify unlucky colors for each zodiac animal.

The Water element is linked with the colors black and dark blue. Therefore, the Monkey should avoid these colors in 2024 to prevent bad luck and misfortune. These colors may negatively impact the Monkey's luck in business, academics, and personal relationships. However, it's crucial to note that while these colors are considered unlucky, they do not guarantee a disastrous year for the Monkey. Other favorable factors can still help the Monkey have a successful year.

It's also worth mentioning that the indulgence in these unlucky colors doesn't attract specific misfortunes but rather can neutralize the Monkey's luck for the year.
