Old LEGO Clone Wars Sets: Unleash the Power of Yesteryear

Nostalgia, anyone? If you grew up in the aughts, there's a good chance LEGO's "Clone Wars" sets were part of your childhood. This popular theme, based on the animated television series, allowed kids to build and battle their way through the epic struggle between the Republic, the Separatists, and the mysterious Sith. Let's dive into the world of old LEGO Clone Wars sets, their impact, and where to find them today.

LEGO's "Clone Wars" sets were produced from 2008 to 2013, spanning 76 sets in total. They featured minifigures from the animated show, including iconic characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, and Darth Maul. The sets ranged from small vehicles and droids to large battle-packed playsets and even had some unique elements like lightsaber hilts and printed ingots.

Iconic Sets and Vehicles

The "Clone Wars" theme offered a wide array of vehicles, from Republic Gunships to Separatist Battle Pacs. Some of the most sought-after include:

• 75049 Republic Gunship: Released in 2013, it's one of the largest sets in the theme, featuring over 1,000 pieces and four minifigures.
• 75028 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter: A beautifully designed spacecraft that came with Anakin, Ahsoka, and R2-D2 minifigures.

These sets not only offered hours of building fun but also encouraged imaginative play and storytelling.

Expandable and Detailed Playsets

Several playsets allowed for expansions and integration with other sets, providing endless possibilities for epic battles and scenes. Here are a couple of standout examples:

• 3019 Republic Frigate Assualt: This 2008 set kicked off the theme and included a Republic Frigate, two speeder bikes, and five minifigures.
• 6210 Separatist Shield Generator: Introduced in 2011, this set featured a shield generator with a removable roof, allowing it to connect with other sets.

The End of an Era

After LEGO's "The Clone Wars" show ended in 2014, the theme was discontinued, marking the end of an era for many fans. However, LEGO paid homage to the theme in 2020 with the release of the 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers set, which included a minifigure scale Republic Attack Cruiser and four 501st Legion Clone Troopers.
