The story behind the pink shirt began in Nova Scotia, Canada, when two high school students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, stood up against homophobic bullying. They asked their peers to wear pink shirts to support their bullied classmate, sending a powerful message that love, acceptance, and unity triumph over hatred. Since then, the annual Pink Shirt Day has become a global event, celebrated on the last Wednesday of February.

What Makes Pink Shirt Day Special?

Pink Shirt Day is more than just a another day on the calendar. It's a symbol of hope, resilience, and the power of community. Here's what sets this day apart:

The Color Code

The color pink, rejected by societal norms from birth as a 'boys' color,' becomes a powerful emblem when chosen by people of all genders to stand up against injustice. It's a bold assertion of love and inclusion.

Even the shirt's design - simple and accessible - ensures everyone can participate, regardless of their style or budget. The solidarity it fosters, shown through this single action, is formidable.

Creating Awareness and Conversations

Pink Shirt Day doesn't stop at wearing a pink shirt. It's about inspiring conversations about diversity, respect, and standing up against bullying in all its forms. That's where our PDF coloring sheets come in.

They offer an engaging, accessible way to start these conversations with kids, teens, and even adults. When you color, you think, and talking about identity, respect, and kindness is part of the process.
