Step right up to познакомиться with everyone's favorite sea sponge, SpongeBob SquarePants. But, you might be wondering, what's his full name? And what's his last name? Let's dive right in.

SpongeBob, full name Robert Sheldon SpongeBob SquarePants, is the titular character of the hit animated series, "SpongeBob SquarePants". He resides in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom, serving as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. But his last name, SquarePants, is a bit of a mystery.

SpongeBob's Full Name Revealed

In the episode "SqaurePants & Bulldozer", SpongeBob's full name is revealed. He introduces himself as "Robert Sheldon SpongeBob SquarePants". This might come as a surprise to some, as SpongeBob had always been known by his first name alone.

The creator of SpongeBob, marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg, never explicitly explained the reasoning behind SpongeBob's full name. However, some fascinating theories have emerged from passionate fans.

SpongeBob's Middle Name: Sheldon

SpongeBob's middle name, Sheldon, is a nod to a character from Hillenburg's previous animated series, "Rocko's Modern Life". Sheldon was a snail known for his melodramatic tendencies. Perhaps Hillenburg chose this middle name as a tribute to his earlier work.

Interestingly, in the "SpongeBob SquarePants" episode "S Darwin Alators!", a character named Sheldon J. Plankton is introduced. While this character is not the same Sheldon from "Rocko's Modern Life", could there be a connection? Only Hillenburg knows for sure.

SquarePants: A Peculiar Last Name

SpongeBob's last name, SquarePants, is unique and fitting for the square-shaped character. Some fans suggest it's a reference to the shape of square pants or swimming trunks. others believe it's a play on the phrase "square deal", which means something fair and honest. Whatever the case, it's a last name that's as memorable as SpongeBob himself.

The origin of SpongeBob's last name might remain a mystery, but it's part of what makes this beloved character so charming and endearing. After all, not everyone can claim to be the only SquarePants in the underwater world.
