Meet the Characters: Sheep, Shepherds, and the Holy Family

Our coloring page depicts the humble stable in Bethlehem, where baby Jesus was born. The scene is adorned with kind shepherds, tending their flocks under the starlit sky, ready to visit the newborn king. Around them, sheep, symbols of Christ's flock, dot the landscape, eagerly awaiting their shepherds' return.

The central figures, Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, signify the humble beginnings of Christianity. Coloring this sacred family is a moment for children to reflect on the importance of faith and family in their own lives.

The Role of Sheep in the Bible

Sheep in the 'Shepherds Visit Jesus' story represent the people of God, guiding us to understand our role as followers of Christ. They are also a humbling reminder of our need for a good shepherd to protect and lead us. As children color these humble creatures, they can learn the valuable lesson of trusting in God's guidance.

In the Old Testament, God often refers to His people as sheep, making this connection consistently clear throughout the Bible. By coloring the sheep in the scene, kids can begin to understand their relationship with God as His children, a bond as tender and personal as that between a shepherd and his flock.

The Obedient Shepherds

The shepherds in our coloring page are the first to hear the angel's announcement of Jesus' birth. They are simple, faithful men, obedient to God's call, making their way to Bethlehem to worship the newborn king. This story is an excellent opportunity to teach children about the importance of listening and responding to God's will.

Children can relate to these shepherds, flawed yet eager to do what's right. As they color the shepherds in their bright clothing, under the watchful eyes of the angel, they can understand that God values obedience and faithfulness, no matter how humble their origins.
