Thomas & Friends has been a beloved children's entertainment franchise for over seven decades. With a vast array of characters, each with their unique personality, it's no surprise that Gordon, the strongest engine on Sodor, is a favorite among children. Our Gordon coloring pages offer a fantastic way to introduce your kids to this classic character while encouraging them to express their artistic side.

Exploring Gordon's History and Personality

Gordon, a green engine introduced in the first series of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends in 1984, has since become an integral part of the island of Sodor. Originally built by the Scottish firm of Topham Hatt's for the Welsh Highland Railway, Gordon was sent to Sodor to help with the growing workload.

A proud and confident engine, Gordon often takes center stage with his boastful nature. He's not afraid to show off his strength, making him one of the most admired engines on the island. Despite his arrogance, Gordon's heart is in the right place, and he always steps up when there's a job that needs doing.

Gordon's Design and Appearance

Gordon's striking green paintwork, coupled with his red lining and golden nameplate, makes him instantly recognizable. Unlike many of his friends, Gordon has a more functional design. His open-sided tender and high dragbox reflect his heavy hauling duties on the mainline. Our Gordon coloring pages allow children to explore these unique design features while adding their own creative touches.

Throughout the various series, Gordon's appearance has slightly evolved. His front buffer beam and lamp irons changed, and his number plates were given a more 3D effect for a more modern look. You can find these different designs represented in our extensive collection of Gordon coloring pages, allowing kids to explore the nuances of this iconic engine's design.

Gordon's Notable Adventures

Gordon's strength and bravery have seen him through numerous challenges on the island of Sodor. From helping to rescue trainloads of tourists in "Rescue on the Rails" to saving the day in the special "S تامsudays on Sodor," Gordon's tales are filled with excitement and intrigue. Our Gordon coloring pages often depict some of these thrilling moments, inviting children to color along with their favorite engine as he faces various obstacles.

One of Gordon's most memorable adventures is from the episode "Toad's Bright Idea." In this story, Gordon initially refuses to pull the Mail Train when he finds out that it's lighter than usual. However, when he later realizes the importance of the mail he's carrying, he quickly makes amends. This narrative highlights Gordon's growth and teaches kids about the importance of accepting and learning from one's mistakes. Our "Toad's Bright Idea" Gordon coloring pages allow children to retell this engaging story through their artwork.

Gordon's Friends and Fellow Engines

Thomas & Friends is all about friendships, and Gordon, despite his initial arrogance, learns to appreciate his friends and enjoy their company. His best friend, James, is a fellow express engine who often helps keep Gordon grounded. Their camaraderie and interplay are a treat to watch, and our Gordon coloring pages often depict these special moments, allowing children to celebrate the power of friendship.

Gordon also shares a unique bond with other engines like Percy, who he affectionately calls "Little Engine." This dynamic duo often works together on various tasks, demonstrating teamwork and cooperation. Our "Gordon and Percy" coloring pages capture these moments, encouraging children to understand the importance of teamwork and supporting one another.
