How to Change Page Color in CorelDRAW
Tired of the default white canvas in CorelDRAW? Want to add a splash of color to your designs? Changing the page color is an easy way to personalize your workspace and improve your design experience. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Before we dive in, it's essential to understand that CorelDRAW uses a concept called 'document color modes'. This means the color you see on your screen might differ from the final output, depending on your printer and print settings. But don't worry, we'll guide you through this process, ensuring you get the color you want.
Changing the Background Color
The first step is to change the background color of your entire CorelDRAW page. This will apply to all objects on your page unless they have a specific color or fill applied. Here's how:
1. **Open the Property Bar**: The Property Bar is a floating toolbar that displays the properties of the currently selected object. If it's not visible, go to 'View' in the menu, then 'Property Bar' and select the one that says 'Page'.
Setting the Page Color
2. **Access the Page Properties**: In the Property Bar, you'll see a section for 'Page'. Click on the small arrow next to 'Color' to open the color picker.
3. **Choose Your Color**: The color picker is a dialog box where you can select your preferred color. You can choose from pre-set colors, use sliders to create your own, or even input the RGB or HSB values directly. Once you've picked your color, click 'OK' to apply it.
Applying the Color
4. **Expand the Fill**: Once you've chosen your color, you need to apply it to the page. In the 'Page' section of the Property Bar, you'll now see your chosen color displayed. Click on the small arrow next to 'Fill' and select 'Expand Fill to Page'. This will apply your chosen color to the entire page.
5. **Preview Your Changes**: CorelDRAW will now update the page with your chosen color. You can see this in the document window, which should now have a colored background.
Changing the Object Color
Now that you've changed the background color, let's look at how to change the color of specific objects in your design.
1. **Select an Object**: Any object selected in your document will have its properties displayed in the Property Bar. Click on an object in your document to select it.
Accessing the Color Palette
2. **Open the Color Palette**: In the Property Bar, you'll see a section for 'Fill'. Click on the small arrow next to 'Color' to open the color palette.
3. **Choose Your Object Color**: The color palette works in much the same way as the color picker. Once you've chosen your color, click 'OK' to apply it.
Applying the Object Color
4. **Expand the Fill**: Just like with the page color, you need to apply your chosen color to the object. In the 'Fill' section of the Property Bar, you'll now see your chosen color displayed. Click on the small arrow next to 'Fill' and select 'Expand Fill'. This will apply your chosen color to the object.
5. **Preview Your Changes**: CorelDRAW will now update the object with your chosen color. You can see this in the document window.
And there you have it! You've now changed the color of your CorelDRAW page and specific objects. The next time you open CorelDRAW, it will remember your chosen colors, so you can pick up right where you left off. Happy designing!
